The Concept of Moving Quickly
Have you ever noticed how much of life we spend rushing? We move from one task to the next,
checking things off our to-do list, listening to audiobooks at double speed, and cramming in as
much information as we can in the shortest amount of time. I know — I listen to my audiobooks
at 2.5 times the speed. It feels efficient, right?
But what are we really gaining when we move through life so quickly? Are we truly absorbing
the wisdom, enjoying the moments, or experiencing the fullness of what’s in front of us? Or are
we just speeding past it all?
I’m guilty of this myself — getting things done fast so I can move on to the next thing. But there’s
something to be said for slowing down. Life wasn’t meant to be crammed into quick bursts. We
weren’t designed to rush from one experience to the next without truly savoring what’s
happening.
When we slow down, we get to breathe in the moments that make life rich. It’s in the quiet,
unhurried moments that we find the space to appreciate what we have, who we are, and what’s
possible for us.
So, the next time you feel like speeding through, ask yourself: Am I truly enjoying this? Or am I
just trying to get through it?
