Breaking My Own Heart

There’s a quiet voice inside each of us, a subtle guide that whispers the truth. It knows what is
good for us and what isn’t, what feels aligned and what is forced. This voice, our intuition, has a
way of knowing when something fits and when something is meant to be left behind. Yet,
despite its presence, there are times I have chosen not to listen. I’ve pushed past its warnings
and rationalized my way into situations that looked right on paper but felt wrong in my soul. The
result? I end up breaking my own heart.
Trusting your instincts is an act of self-love and self-respect. When I fail to honor that part of me,
the aftermath is devastating and gut-wrenching. It’s not the world that betrays me in those
moments; it’s me betraying myself. The pain that comes from disregarding that internal guide
isn’t just disappointment—it’s deeper. It’s the anguish of knowing that I chose to ignore what I
already knew.
Ignoring intuition is often born from doubt or fear—fear of the unknown, fear of missing out, fear
of disappointing others. But every time I choose fear over that inner voice, the regret
compounds. It’s the aftermath that speaks the loudest, echoing the question: Why didn’t I listen?
I sit in that space, wishing better for myself, yearning for the strength to choose differently next
time.
If you find yourself breaking your own heart by ignoring that voice within, know that it’s not too
late. Each choice is a chance to practice listening and trusting. Each step toward intuition is a
step toward healing. And each act of trust, no matter how small, is an act of reclaiming your
peace.
May we all learn to listen. May we all wish better for ourselves and find the strength to follow
what we already know is true.
